Convenience and quality is what we are all looking for, the VacBrew steps in as a revolutionary coffee brewer. This product is designed to excel at both hot and cold brewing, it transforms the slow, often time-consuming process of cold brew into a matter of minutes—without sacrificing flavour. Let’s explore what makes this brewer so popular and why it is so captivating.
What Is the VacBrew?
This is a vacuum-powered coffee maker crafted by FOSA Home, marketed as “The Ultimate Hot & Cold Brew Vacuum Coffee Maker”. This system is designed to deliver café-level coffee in a minimal amount oftime.
Revolutionary Vacuum Technology
VacBrew and Fosa utilise advanced vacuum technology to redefine extraction. By creating a vacuum-sealed environment within the brewing chamber, it lowers air pressure. This accelerates flavour extraction—yielding a full-bodied, smooth brew in around 12 minutes, compared to the typical 12–24 hours required by traditional cold brew methods. The result is a rich, nuanced, flavourful coffee with minimal effort.
Our Personal Experience and Thoughts
Design
- Premium Materials: The brewing chamber of this VacBrew coffee maker is made of BPA-free Tritan plastic to withstand high temperatures up to 212 °F / 100 °C, paired with a glass carafe for elegance and durability.
- Aesthetics: The sleek smoky black design complements any modern kitchen. It is also practical since you can clean this perfectly so you will never see coffee stains. It’s also compact and easy to store or to leave at the countertop of your kitchen.
- Accessories: The metal filter is reusable, and optional add-ons such as UV-block canisters and travel mugs are available separately .
Efficiency & Ease of Use
- Brew Time: Whether hot or cold, your coffee is ready in maximum 12 minutes, a marked improvement over immersion methods.
- One-Touch Operation: The vacuum pump streamlines the process with selectable programs—brew and vacuum in a single press. Brewing is possible at 5 minutes (orange light), 8 minutes (green light), and 12 minutes (blue light). Everything is clearly explained in the manual that comes with the VacBrew.
- Cleanup is easy: All pieces can easily be taken apart because of simple click systems etc. The device boasts a leak-proof design and dishwasher-safe parts for fast and easy cleaning. The ground coffee is pretty ‘dry’ and easy to remove after brewing since the vacuum system pushes all water through. We find it easy and quick to handwash the parts.
Brewing Guide: Step by Step
In the manual you can find clear explanations about how to brew the perfect coffee. We recommend following this guide before adjusting the ‘recipe’ to brew coffee to your own personal taste.
- Use about 30 g of coffee, aiming for a 1:10 ratio with 300 ml of water.
- Pour grounds into the chamber, add cold (or hot) water, and give it a quick stir.
- Seal the lid and place the vacuum pump atop.
- Tap to turn on and select your preferred brewing time, then hold for about 2 seconds to activate the brewing cycle: orange (5 minutes), green (8 minutes), or blue (12 minutes).
- You will hear a light beep every 15 seconds during the brewing time. Once that finishes, the vacuum extraction begins automatically.
- Pour your brew and enjoy!
Versatility: Hot & Cold Brewing
One of VacBrew’s standout features is its versatility—it handles both cold and hot brewing:
- Cold Brew: Extract smooth, rich flavours in just 5, 8, or 12 minutes instead of overnight steeping. It all depends on how strongly you prefer your coffee.
- Hot Brew: The VacBrew system is safe at high temperatures (up to 100 °C), though a recommended brew temp is 176°F (95°C).
Final Thoughts after Trying and Testing
This is probably the part you are all waiting for!
We were, as always, sceptical. How can coffee be made with a vacuum system?
We are now convinced it is possible, and the outcome is a good, tasty coffee. The advantage is that it only takes a minimum of time to brew. It is a bit of a hassle if you have to make coffee for multiple people, but it is perfect for a person alone or if you only have 1 or 2 coffees at a time.
You can brew up to 500ml at once. Don’t forget to adjust the amount of ground coffee if you brew larger amounts.
- Brewing for 5 minutes results in a very light, almost look through coffee.
- After 8 minutes brewing, you have a light but tasty coffee.
- I’m not a real coffee drinker but hubby prefers the 12 minutes since the coffee is stronger and he only is allowed decaf.
As with any great coffee recipe, it all begins with high-quality beans stored in ideal conditions. Follow the VacBrew’s simple instructions, and you’ll be rewarded with a rich, flavourful cup—perfect for jumpstarting your morning or enjoying a refreshing break anytime during the day.
