3 Best Beeswax Wraps

Plastic and glass are still the most popular choices to wrap leftovers or pack for lunch. However, it is not always the best solution, because a container might take up too much space and plastic wraps should be avoided as they are non-eco-friendly.

How to care

Beeswax melts at 64°C and we recommend rinsing or washing the wraps under cold running water with mild soap if necessary. You can then air dry them, and with proper care and depending on how often they’re used, they will last for up to a year.

Best use

Bees produce anti-bacterial properties, called propolis, a sticky material to seal holes in the beehives. This said, it isn’t anti-viral or anti-fungal and therefore it is not recommended to use for raw meat, poultry or fish.

Short-term wrapping of leftovers, sandwiches, pieces of fruit or nuts to take away are perfect uses for these sustainable wraps. Use the natural warmth of your hands to create an air-tight seal over bowls, jars, or other containers to keep food fresh for longer. The beeswax wrap will hold its shape when it cools. You can straighten the wrap in the same way as you give shape to seal over bowls.

Best Overall – Bee’s Wrap Assorted Set of 3

This handmade set includes three pre-cut sheets of different sizes with attractive prints to cover foods of differing sizes. Wrap a piece of fruit in the smallest while the largest sheet can cover up to a small loaf of bread. The sheets are made from organic cotton with beeswax, jojoba oil, and tree resin, which all have antibacterial properties. The brand is well trusted and the sheets have a nice scent of beeswax and a good level of flexibility for easy packing.

Best flexible – Navega Beeswax Food Wrap roll

You get a roll, similar to cling wrap or aluminium foil, which makes it convenient to cut the exact size you need for your food items. The width remains but you can choose the length and cover or wrap larger pieces. The organic cotton is coated with harvested beeswax, organic jojoba oil, and tree resin. Like other pre-cut wraps, it is reusable, and helps reduce waste, while keeping food fresh for longer. This beeswax food wrap separates itself from competitors because it is odourless whereas other wraps have a beeswax scent.

Best for large items – Bee’s Wrap Extra Large XXL Roll

If you always need big sheets, try this XXL roll of 14”x52” (35cm x 132cm).  As with all beeswax products at Bee’s Wrap this large roll is handmade organic cotton with beeswax, jojoba oil, and tree resin, which have antibacterial properties. The nicely scented beeswax wrap can be cut with scissors to create your own shapes and sizes for plastic free food storage.
